Frustrated
Well those of you that have read my Facebook may know that things have not been going so well with the house. A couple of days ago John was in the loft working on the wiring and had to pull some insulation out of the wall to drill a hole and discovered the OSB was all covered in mold. Upon further inspection realized that the whole loft was full of the mold, so we had to tear all the insulation out. Then we went into the basement and sure enough, it was solid mold as well. After doing some investigating and making countless calls, I found out that the reason was because the sheetrock wasn't up yet and any moisture in the house was going right through the insulation and then condensing on the wall causing the mold. Apparently if you put the siding up and the sheetrock up right away then it creates an moisture proof barrier and then only air is trapped in the space and no water can get through. This would have been nice to know last fall when I insulated. I also learned that bleach will not kill mold on porous surfaces. Apparently the bleach can not get to the roots of the mold and then the bleach part evaporates before the water does and then causes the mold to come back way worse. So I found some stuff on the internet and ordered it, hopefully it will get here today. Our new plan of attack is to spray the mold then have a company come out and spray on insulation so it will create an airtight barrier and never allow the mold to regrow. On a happier note my cousin came out yesterday and helped John get the wiring almost finished. They would have gotten it finished if we wouldn't have ran out of boxes, and our carpenter friends also came yesterday and framed up the babies room and framed in my bathtub. At least we are still moving forward but it is still frustrating being held up by mold.
